Datacom Award for Transforming Service Delivery goes to Selwyn District Council

Selwyn District Council's customer service transformation project has been awarded the Datacom Award for Transforming Service Delivery as part of the 2021 LGFA Taituarā Local Government Excellence Awards, presented at a Gala Dinner event in Wellington.

The project, A World Class Customer Experience Transformation Project, included the construction of a new customer service centre, a new customer culture approach, and skills enhancement of the customer service staff.

The judges commended the Council's compelling blend of digital transformation, culture change and skills development. All this was achieved within six months, with improved efficiency and customer service targets in the first year.

Taituarā Chief Executive, Karen Thomas, congratulated Selwyn District Council on achieving great results through a blended digital transformation approach. She also thanked Datacom for their support.

The judges also commended Tauranga City Council in this category for their Trail rider initiative - an all-terrain wheelchair providing an opportunity for those with mobility needs to access previously inaccessible sites, heights and views.
