The Infrastructure Commission report “Lifting our gaze” looked at how to make broader outcomes a reality in the delivery of infrastructure projects in the public sector.

The Government has sought to identify “shovel ready” projects with Crown Infrastructure Partners Limited (CIP) to boost the economic activity post COVID-19. All of this activity means that councils will need to be well prepared for change in the way we deliver on our infrastructure programmes.

The “new normal” will be very different from our previous delivery. Speed, innovation and agility to respond will mean we will be trying new and improved approaches as well as shifting our behaviours and culture to deliver the best outcomes for our communities. This together with smart technological solutions will be part of delivering successful infrastructure programmes for NZ in a complex environment, for generations to come.
