About this event
Kathryn McLean is a senior associate in Simpson Grierson’s local government and environment team, based in Wellington. Kathryn advises councils on a wide range of local government issues, including official information and privacy, decision-making and consultation, conflicts of interest, local elections, governance, standing orders, codes of conduct, CCOs, delegations, appointments, and warrants. She advises on all issues relevant to the Local Government Act 2002, and on other regulatory legislation that applies to councils, including transport legislation, gambling regulation, and freedom camping.
Judith Cheyne is also a senior associate in Simpson Grierson’s local government and environment team, based in Christchurch. She recently re-joined Simpson Grierson after several years as part of the in-house legal team at Christchurch City Council. Judith specialises in local government issues, advising on decision-making, consultation, and conflict of interest matters, official information and privacy, rating issues, bylaws, and policy development. She also has significant experience with local government regulatory issues, including the Building Act, Dog Control, Sale and Supply of Alcohol, and the Health Act.
Who should attend?
Anyone who regularly deals with requests for access to information but especially democracy services staff, policy staff, legal and communications staff.

Please register one ticket for your council on the Taituarā website. Leading up to the event, a Zoom link will be sent to you, to register on Zoom before attending. This can then be forwarded to anyone in your council who would like to attend.
