About this event

Grounded in over 35 years of the Glaser’s published research, this evidence-based programme transforms conflict into creative problem solving and stronger, more resilient relationships. It unlocks the skills to navigate life's difficult conversations.

The format:
The Glaser’s award-winning programme raises the bar for learning. By combining skill-building video instruction with live workshops, this interactive experience is transformative and enduring.

  • 2.5 hours - ahead of the workshop will complete online learning which is self-paced, an interactive workbook is included.
  • 3.5 hours - learning in-person with the Glasers is an experience like none other, this session is designed to bring the ultimate level of personalisation and hands-on instruction, a networking lunch is included on the day.

The challenge:
Deep fissures have created a need for tough conversations local government leaders never thought they’d need to have. Too often, hard conversations are driven by emotion rather than a conscious, skillful method. In this rapidly evolving local government political landscape, complex new challenges require intentional dialogue.

The opportunity:
Honesty need not be unkind; candor can be compassionate and empathetic. When conflict is managed consciously and intentionally, the foundation exists to stimulate creative problem solving, increase innovation, and build relationships and trust. By focusing on what to say and how to say it, the toxicity of avoidance is replaced with kind candor and powerful solutions.

Who are the Glasers:
The presentation style of the Glasers is unique. Former actors as well as award winning researchers and university professors, the Glasers utilize their dramatic skills to recreate compelling conflict scenarios directly from the lives of New Zealand’s local government leaders. This programme has evolved from three decades of their own published, field-tested research and introduces participants to concrete, tangible skills to:

  • Transform criticism from triggering to trust-building
  • Raise difficult issues that solve problems and strengthen relationships
  • Listen to understand and align
  • Reduce the lag time between noticing and discussing a problem
  • Create trust from conflict
  • Generate collaborative solutions around complex issues
