At this one-hour webinar you’ll learn about effectively managing information requests where both LGOIMA and Privacy Act matters need to be considered. The webinar will cover:
• Relevant obligations under the LGOIMA and the Privacy Act;
• When to release, and when to withhold information;
• When requests involve the Privacy Act;
• Tricks, traps and tips in the information request processes; and
• What happens when someone complains to the Ombudsman or the Privacy Commissioner

This webinar is for council staff and council-controlled organisations, in particular committee advisors, privacy officers, LGOIMA officers, and lawyers.

Partner, Simpson GriersonMike is a partner in Simpson Grierson’s local government and environment group, and leads the local government team with Jonathan Salter. He specialises in local government and environmental law, with a particular focus on the regulatory functions of local government (including under the RMA), and its decision-making and governance obligations and requirements. He regularly represents local authorities in relation to RMA matters (including before the higher courts), and has appeared before a number of other specialist tribunals and Council hearings on specific strategic and regulatory matters.

She recently re-joined Simpson Grierson after several years as part of the in-house legal team at Christchurch City Council. Judith specialises in local government issues, advising on decision-making, consultation and conflict of interest matters, official information and privacy, rating issues, bylaws and policy development. She also has significant experience with local government regulatory issues, including Building Act, Dog Control, Sale and Supply of Alcohol and Health Act.
