On 8 June 2023 the Finance and Expenditure Select Committee is due to report to Parliament on the Water Services Legislation Bill and Water Services Economic Efficiency and Consumer Protection Bill. This webinar, by Simpson Grierson and Taituarā, will provide an analysis of what’s happened to the legislation, what the next steps are, and what it means.
Who should attend?
Anyone with an interest in, or who is affected by, the water legislation and what happens next.
While not specifically designed for elected members, they are more than welcome to attend.
The webinar is for local authorities and council-controlled organisations only. Other attendance requires written consent from Taituarā.
Please register one ticket for your council on the Taituarā website. Leading up to the event, a Zoom link will be sent to you, to register on Zoom before attending. This can then be forwarded to anyone in your council who would like to attend.

Raymond re-joined Taituarā in June 2014 as Sector Improvement Manager, before commencing his current role as Chief Advisor at Taituarā. He has spent most of the last 20 years in local government related roles, most recently with the Department of Internal Affairs.
He describes his job as two-thirds providing assistance to the local government sector and one-third providing advice to central government on local government matters. His ambition is to help develop a Local Government Act that doesn’t require changes every 18 months. He asks that you wish him well with this task.

He specialises in local government and environmental law, with a particular focus on the regulatory functions and processes of local government (including under the RMA), and decision-making and governance obligations and requirements. He regularly represents local authorities in relation to RMA matters (including before the higher courts) and has appeared before many other specialist tribunals and council hearings on specific strategic and regulatory matters.
