Last month the Government announced a $2.5 billion package to support councils as part of the three waters reform programme. The Model Report has been released and is available in this article.

Councils have until 1 October 2021 (the ‘8-week period’) to digest the Government’s proposed delivery model, how it impacts them and their community, and to propose solutions for Government to work with councils and mana whenua on key aspects of the reform.

This week we circulated a Model Report to support councils to frame their advice to elected officials on the next steps for three waters reform. Councils will need to conduct research and analysis for their local context, but this provides some guidance.

This Report will also enable council to prepare for future decisions and consultation and engagement with communities.
