Phil Wilson recently stepped down after ten years on the Taituarā Executive, with the last four years as President. Taituarā has recognised his very considerable contributions to our organisation by making him a Life Member at the recent Taituarā 2021 Annual General Meeting. Thank you Phil for your unswerving support, energy, and dedication to our work in local government.

During his time on the Taituarā Executive, Phil has represented Taituarā and the sector more widely across Aotearoa New Zealand as well as internationally. He has also held a number of senior management roles. He is currently Director Governance and CCO Partnerships at Auckland Council and was previously chief of staff in the Mayor's Office at Auckland Council. Prior to that he was General Manager of HR and Communications for Manukau City Council and then Chief Advisor to that organisation which included leading both the Chief Executive and Mayoral offices.

Phil believes that good governance is critical to an organisation’s success and it is a personal passion of his. So, whether working with the Auckland Council mayor, councillors, local boards and CCOs, driving outcomes with and for iwi, or overseeing the work of Taituarā for its members and the wider sector, Phil is committed and passionate in his mahi.
