Last week the Taituarā Resource Management Reform Reference Group met to discuss the progress of the reform programme and how they can support the sector through the transition to the new system.
Replacing the RMA with the Natural and Built Environments Act, Spatial Planning Act and Climate Adaptation Act represents a system change for local government on a grand scale and significant support will be required to ensure the effective implementation of these changes.
Over the next year, the Reference Group will work together with members, sector groups and relevant organisations to ensure the legislation, and how it is implemented, is practical and informed by the professional advice and experience of local government.
Their workplan will also contribute to wider programmes that focus on workforce capacity; leading and managing people; and staff wellbeing.
