We held our annual Taituarā Climate Change Forum from 16-21 June 2022. It was an informative and inspiring event showcasing developments in climate action from central government and academics as well as case studies from Councils around the country.
Climate change is an increasingly important aspect of Councils' work. From developing mitigation and adaptation plans to embedding climate change in our decision-making frameworks, climate action is a key strategic priority for Councils.
Over the course of the four-day forum we gained insights into adaptation planning, reducing emissions from transport, engagement with our communities and much more. It was encouraging to see that so much work is being done in the climate change space – although our work is just beginning.
Thank you to all our presenters and for all those who came to the Forum. We hope all the attendees were inspired the presentations and are feeling ready to go forward and put what they learnt into practice.

We are offering two online workshops: one on climate change risk and adaptation planning for your organisation and community on 26 July 2022 as well as another on greenhouse gas emissions reduction for your Council's operations on 22 July 2022. These two-hour workshops are presented by Markus Benter-Lynch, Tonkin + Taylor's Strategic Advisor - Sustainability and Climate Change, who also presented at the Climate Change Forum.
