We would like to congratulate our colleagues at Hastings District Council who recently opened their stunningly renovated Municipal Building. This will be a boon for the performing arts scene in Heretaunga Hastings, and a focal point for community events in the region.

The Hastings Municipal Building, the last piece of the Toitoi Hawke's Bay Arts & Events Centre, is a Heritage New Zealand Category 1 listed building dating from 1916. The newly earthquake-strengthened complex includes a range of spaces and also includes the reinvigorated Municipal Lane replete with a vibrant mix of retail and hospitality tenants.

Hastings District Council was the winner of the Datacom Award for Transforming Service Delivery at this year's LGFA Taituarā Local Government Excellence Awards. Its Event Centre Asset Management BIM and Digital Twin entry impressed our judges for using real-time data in conjunction with other tools such as simulation and artificial intelligence to support decision-making.

We are certain the people of Hastings will love their new community facility.
