We farewell Simon Markham as a member of the Taituarā Executive shortly, and welcome Nikki Harrison and Barbara McKerrow to the Board. We owe an enormous debt of gratitude to Simon for his sage guidance as well as the energy and enthusiasm he has brought to the role over the course of a decade.

Simon Markham, who is Manager, Strategy & Engagement at Waimakariri District Council, is leaving the local government sector and thus his role on the Taituarā Executive as well. He has served as Top of the South Branch Representative since 2012.

Simon has brought a level of professionalism to his role with us which has coincided with a period of huge upheaval for the Canterbury region and his oversight of the Waimakariri Residential Red Zone put him in touch with other local government professionals around the world. He has represented us at an international forum as well as at multiple local events. Ngā mihi maioha Simon - we hugely appreciate your contribution.

We are delighted that Nikki Harrison has joined us and offered to take up the mantle from Simon as Top of the South Branch Representative. Nikki is Group Manager Corporate Services at Nelson City Council, and responsible for its customer service, IT, GIS, organisational assurance, civil defence, and finance business units. Until recently Nikki was the Taituarā representative on the NZ Superannuation Trustee Ltd – your SuperEasy and KiwiSaver funds.

Barbara McKerrow will be joining us as the Wellington area Representative. This is wonderful news and we are grateful to Barbara given that this branch has been in recess for some time. Barbara is the Chief Executive of Wellington City Council and a former President of Taituarā.

A big thank you once again for your service to the local government sector Simon and a warm haere mai to Nikki and Barbara.
