The Taituarā Executive is pleased to announce the appointment of Miriam Taris to the role of Interim Chief Executive.

Miriam will support our commitment to enable the staff of Taituarā to deliver their work programme in support of our members, stakeholders, and the wider sector while we continue our recruitment search for a transformational Chief Executive to lead our organisation. Miriam will be well known to many of you. She is a seasoned Chief Executive, and an excellent people leader who is absolutely committed to the success of Taituarā.

The Executive would also like to thank Seán Mahoney, our General Manager, Sector Performance for so calmly and willingly stepping up to the role of Acting Chief Executive for the past two months. Seán has provided a very steady pair of hands while we initiated a strategic reset and launched the recruitment process. We have been incredibly grateful to Seán for his mahi and leadership during this period.

The local government sector faces significant change, with both capacity and capability challenges in maintaining operations, meeting ongoing changes, and being fit for the future. As the local government membership organisation for staff in Aotearoa New Zealand, it is vital that Taituarā is forward thinking, dynamic and future focussed in order to assist current and future members to support local government through its own operations, through partnerships, and through collaborations with others.

As we work through the fit for future strategic re-set and recruit a permanent Chief Executive, the Executive is confident Miriam will provide stability and leadership as the front face of Taituarā. It is an exciting time for Taituarā, and we welcome Miriam to the team.
