Taituarā is working with the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC), to help councils support the wellbeing of children, young people and families in their communities.

Local government has a critical role in fostering wellbeing, providing the services, amenities, infrastructure and enabling environment to help create resilient and connected communities.

We are working with the Child Wellbeing Unit in DPMC who are leading the implementation of the Child and Youth Wellbeing Strategy, which was launched in 2019. The Strategy sets out what children and young people said they want and need for well-being, what the Government is doing, and how others can help.

This includes the development of guidance, which councils have helped co-design. They have also shared resources, plans and policies specifically focused on supporting child and youth well-being, as well as examples of initiatives that are making a difference.

The guidance and additional resources are held on our online hub. We encourage councils to explore the site, and share their important mahi in this space. To find out more, or to sign up to the 'CoCre8 Child and Youth Wellbeing online hub', contact us on info@taituara.org.nz
