The Pōneke Promise is a joint initiative between key Wellington stakeholders from across local government and business. Our aim is to create a central city that is vibrant, inclusive, compassionate, and safe.
Wellington City Council, Greater Wellington Regional Council, the City's hospitality industry, retailers, mana whenua and Police came together to launch a social contract - the Pōneke Promise - in response to the community's concerns around safety in the central city
There are four focus areas within the programme: reducing harm, improving public spaces, increasing community spaces and business confidence.
The wide range of partners from across Pōneke reflects our holistic approach to the programme. By sharing information and working together to develop and deliver solutions, we're working towards the common goal of making Pōneke a safe, vibrant and welcoming city for everyone.
