The PacificTA programme facilitates the sharing of Aotearoa New Zealand's knowledge and expertise with Pacific Island authorities to support them in developing and delivering their local government services.

in the Pacific
PacificTA helps Pacific Island managers to provide public services such as environmental management (e.g. water and air quality), infrastructure and asset management, town planning, transport planning, and public health and safety programmes such as dog control and building control.
The PacificTA programme is managed by Taituarā and funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT)’s New Zealand Aid Programme.
Areas of focus
Environmentalmanagement
Water and air quality, coastal planning, marine regulations and marine pollution response, biodiversity, pest management, flood protection and river management, and natural hazard management including climate change.
Infrastructure and asset management
Drinking water, sanitation, stormwater and drainage, local roads, waste collection, recycling and landfill management, airport and port ownership, libraries and sports centres, parks and open spaces, and asset management and maintenance planning.
Town planning and transport planning
Public transport, urban, town and community planning, local regulations / by-laws, building control, and harbour and boating safety.
Public
health & safety
Crime prevention planning, rural fire protection, civil defence/disaster planning and response, public health regulation and compliance: animal control, food safety compliance, and sale, supply and consumption of alcohol.
