A record field of nine entrants will contest this year’s Datascape Award for Excellence in Digital Local Government.

The Datascape Award (still sponsored by the good people at Datacom) celebrates the power of technology to empower, inform and transform services for the benefit on the community.

At Datacom, we believe in the transformative potential of technology in local government. This year’s entries highlight the growing role of artificial intelligence as a tool for not only improving business insights but also enhancing service delivery. We are excited to see councils embracing AI to drive digital innovation, and the quality of the projects submitted for this year’s Datascape Award is a testament to the innovative spirit within local government,” says Peter Nelson, Managing Director of SaaS Products at Datacom.

This year’s entries are notable for the first applications from councils applying AI as a tool both for business insight and service transformation. Three of this year’s entries showcase AI as an enabler including entries from Hutt, Selwyn and South Waikato.

“The entries in the Datascape Award show Digital Leadership isn’t solely the preserve of those with big budgets, or a heap of resource” Raymond says.

Other entries feature an online system for tracking council decisions and voting records—a regularly requested item in submissions to inquiries into local elections; a digital future-focused spatial strategy; two service transformation stories; and a fresh online engagement tool.

The winner of the Datascape Award, the other six category winners and LGFA Supreme Award winner will be announced at the Taituarā xcellence Awards at Tākina in Wellington on 12 June.

This Award would not be possible without the sponsorship of Datascape and our other sponsors. We thank them for their ongoing support.
