The Resource Management Reform Reference Group (RMRRG) brings together experienced local government professionals to support councils and Taituarā in navigating New Zealand’s resource management system reforms. The group provides advice, identifies sector issues, and helps local authorities transition effectively to the new legislative framework.
Purpose
The RMRG exists to:
- Assist the local government sector in contributing to the reform of the resource management system by identifying issues that could significantly impact councils.
- Support councils in preparing for and implementing the new resource management system.
- Provide advice and guidance to help councils manage the operational and policy implications of the reforms.
Responsibilities
Members of the RMRG:
- Monitor the reform process and identify potential impacts on local authorities.
- Provide timely advice and feedback to Taituarā and sector partners on emerging policy and legislative changes.
- Share best practice approaches to implementing the reforms and transitioning processes.
- Collaborate with councils and other agencies to support capacity building and readiness for the new system.
- Contribute to Taituarā sector leadership and policy guidance on resource management reform.
