About this initiative

On 26 March many New Zealanders made the change to working from home. This change has presented some new and unique challenges around working remotely, working with new technology, isolation, managing wellbeing, and maintaining work-life balance.

Hamilton City Council reacted quickly, they commissioned The Effect to supply content which was then developed into an e-Learning pack by their talented Instructional Designer.

Hamilton City Council decided that they wanted to maximise their efforts and help as many organisations as possible - a goal that was in line with the ultimate mission of The Effect so they got on board.

Through this collaboration a five module e-Learning resource has now been made available to all other councils - free of charge!

Each module will take about 15-20 minutes to work through. They are self-paced and incorporate interactive elements such as activities and reflection points.

Module 1: Connect - Ideas to support connection and enhance wellbeing while working remotely.

Module 2: Care - Five to Thrive, a framework for wellbeing.

Module 3: Care - Managing our mind in rapid change.

Module 4: Care - Mindfulness for Mental Health.

Module 5: Create - Motivation and engagement when at home

Receiving the Modules

There are two options available to receive the content in order to share it with your organisation.

Option one - Files are sent for free via email in SCORM format as they are completed. You can then put the files on your Learning Management System or intranet if it's SCORM compatible.

Find out more information by emailing elearning@taituara.org.nz

Option two - The Effect use an eLearning platform to provide content to organisations who don’t have an existing in-house Learning Management System, or the ability to host SCORM files themselves.

The modules are hosted on the web and are accessible on this platform via a simple login process. To obtain access to the content a single, unique url is generated and shared with your organisation for dissemination to staff. When a staff member clicks on the link they will be redirected to the course enrolment page where they will be prompted to create an account, and subsequently given free access to all the course content. The enrolment process takes approximately two minutes or less. You can find more information on this here.

The Effect are providing access at cost to councils - only charging the fee required to operate the platform - at $495 for three months access to as many staff as you would like.
