Inspector Brent Register joins us to talk about protecting our crowded places. Using a Strategy the New Zealand Police have developed called “Protecting Crowded Places from Attack”.

About this event

Do you know what to do in the event of a terrorist attack?

Councils have a role to play in keeping their public places safe. The New Zealand Police have developed a strategy, “Protecting Crowded Places from Attack”. The Strategy aims to preserve the public’s use and enjoyment of public spaces whilst ensuring their safety has been considered. It uses methods that are in proportion to terrorist threats.

Crowded places are places that large numbers of people access easily and predictably. They include councils’ civic and public spaces, libraries, museums, pools, sporting arenas, courtyards, and plazas. They also include council reception areas, council chambers, town halls, and community halls.

A crowded place is not necessarily always crowded, the density may vary at different times of the day or between events.

This webinar is for all council staff who work in public facilities where people go.
