About this event

New Zealand’s political landscape is changing, and social media channels play a large role in shaping public understanding of ideas, information, and beliefs. The local elections rely on social media to communicate local authority and candidate information to voters. But what about misinformation and echo chambers? What are they and can anything be done about them?

Dr Mona Krewel specialises in electoral research and will be sharing her expertise about how people receive information, what misinformation is and is not, positive and negative campaigning, political manoeuvrings, and how New Zealanders use social media. Strategies were used at the general elections to monitor and manage social media which can be applied to the local elections.

So, invite your team, grab a coffee, and come and join us with Dr Mona Krewel. There will be time for Q&A after the presentation. Send questions before the webinar to susan.haniel@taituara.org.nz
