Te Awa Kairangi Kai Collective is a community-led initiative which currently includes Hutt City Council, Kokiri Marae Pātaka Kai, Lower Hutt Foodbank, Stokes Valley Foodbank and Te Aroha Kai. The initiative has a coordinated approach to emergency food support for those experiencing hardship right now, while growing strength and stability for our future by working collaboratively within the wider food movement.

Te Awa Kairangi Kai Collective develops strategies to link emergency food provision practices to the growing food resilience and climate adaptation work that is happening across the Hutt Valley. Guided by the values of manaakitanga and kotahitanga, Te Awa Kairangi Kai Collective works to ensure that there is accessible and sustainable food for everyone within Te Awa Kairangi for generations to come.

Council's role has been to facilitate, co-ordinate and support through funding, people power and access to resources.
